The Marion County Health Department is holding an open house and health fair on Thursday as part of their 25th Anniversary celebration.
Executive Director Lori Ryan says the event will be held from eight to two at the Salem office at 118 Cross Creek Boulevard.
“We’re going to have a health fair and from 8-11 we will be doing Executive Profiles at a discount rate of $35. If anyone wants to call and get their blood work done they can make an appointment and they can do it that way. we are going to have a fit test which is a colorectal screening for cancer, we are going to have osteoporosis screenings free from the hospital and a NARCAM training for the community at 1 pm.”
Ryan says those who want to take advantage of the NARCAM training should register ahead of time by calling 548-3878. She reports those attending the training will also receive some of the product to allow them to resuscitate someone who has overdosed on an opioid.
Ryan reports a number of other activities are planned as well.
“We are going to have a bouncy house and face painting for kids. We are going to have a WIC and breastfeeding display for anybody in that age group that is having babies and going to have the hidden in plain site room for parents to be able to come and get an education on what things to look for in your kids room to see if there are any drug activities going on.”
Ryan says if you come out at lunchtime, the health department will serve free hot dogs and hamburgers.
