Marion County Sheriff’s Department Arrests Two Sandoval Men for Two Recent Burglaries

Matthew Claxton and Stephen Jacobs

Two Sandoval men have been charged with two burglaries to buildings in the 3,000 block of Chitwood Lane in rural Salem.

Bond was set at $30,000 during the first appearance in Marion County Court for 29-year-old Matthew Caxton.   Bond was set at $20,000 for 25-year-old Stephen Jacobs.  Both reside on Old U.S. 51.

They were questioned by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies after video surveillance showed a truck and a license plate that checked back to Claxton. Deputies say they allegedly found some of the stolen items still in the truck along with salvage yard receipts for other items.

Deputies indicate two barns and a storage unit were first entered on July 30th. A camera was then installed which allegedly showed Claxton’s truck when another burglary was discovered on Thursday.

The owners were in the process of tearing down a mobile home and did not live on the property.

Both Claxton and Jacobs had the public defender appointed to represent them and preliminary hearings set for September 4th.
