Carlyle Bows Out In 1a Soccer Regional

 

CENTRALIA – The season came to an end for the Carlyle Indians as they fell 6-0 to Mt Carmel in the semifinal round of the Class 1a Christ Our Rock Regional.  Mt Carmel built a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Rayce Loudermilk and Beau Stipp.  Golden Aces broke the contest open with 4 second half goals courtesy of Ethan Belt, Stipp, Britton Heinrich and Adam Stoneberger.  The Aces had a 20-6 edge in shots on goal, which included a 10-1 advantage in the 2nd half.  Brandon Fischer had 7 saves in goal for the Tribe.  Carlyle finishes the season with a 5-11 record.  Mt Carmel advances to Saturday’s championship game against Belleville Althoff.

Also in 1a semifinal action at Altamont, Newton beat the hosts 10-0 and Hillsboro scored the game winning goal at 8:58 of the 2nd overtime to beat Staunton 1-0.  At Breese Central, the host Cougars edged Metro East Lutheran 2-0.  St Anthony defended their home turf with a 2-1 win over Raymond Lincolnwood.  At Freeburg, the host Midgets beat Massac County 5-0 with 4 goals coming from Adam Haas.  Murphysboro earned a 3-2 win over Wesclin in overtime.
