Two Granite City residents charged with rural Iuka burglary

Two Granite City residents have been charged in Marion County Court with burglary to an outbuilding at an Iuka home in the 300 block of Iuka Road in rural Iuka.

40-year-old David Paterson and 22-year-old Ashley Kirkover were actually found in the area of the burglary before it was reported and brought to the jail as suspicious persons.   Deputies received a report on the break-in while was still being held on an outstanding Missouri and St. Clair County warrant.   Following questioning, Kirkover was arrested on a new charge of burglary and deputies located Paterson still in Salem and returned him to jail.

Sheriff’s Department reports indicate a four-wheeler was taken from the shed, which was later found in a ditch outside the home of the alleged victim.

Bond for Paterson was set at $20,000.  Bond for Kirkover was set at $15,000.  Both had the public defender appointed to represent them.
