Toby’s Movie Review —- “A Star Is Born” & “Bohemian Rhapsody”

So recently watched “A Star Is Born” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

First I didn’t think I would like A Star Is Born. Boy was I wrong. Bradley Cooper once again shows why he is so good at his craft. Transforming himself into an alcoholic declining star looking for a way to stay relevant in a fickle industry. And Gaga…..let’s just say I wasn’t expecting much just because of my dislike for most of her music, BUT she did a great job embodying the tough but still vulnerable Ally who has been waiting her whole life for a break she never thought was coming. Also I thought Andrew Dice Clay was a nice pick for Ally’s father and a wanna be Crooner. I gave it 8.5 out of 10 on the Gullion Scale!

Bohemian Rhapsody was very good as well. I am a big Queen fan anyway and this just opened up a small peek into the band’s formation and rise to stardom. Ok its not 100% accurate to the band’s journey, but it does a good job in translating just how freaking talented Freddie Mercury was and how unrelenting to do anything to compromise his creative vision! I really liked the movie and gave it 7.5 out of 10.

Both movies are good rents though and I would recommend both of them.
