Nearly 300 people enjoyed a 50-cent breakfast at the Marion County Farm Bureau building Wednesday morning.
This was the first year in overseeing the breakfast for Brad Conant since arriving as Manager of the Marion and Clinton County Farm Bureaus late last year. He says the key is the volunteers and a number were on hand to meet him at the office at 4:30 Wednesday morning to begin preparations.
“I think they appreciated the nice breakfast on a morning where the weather helped with the turnout as well. Our donation to “Ag in the Classroom” looks like they were probably up over the previous year as well. So all in all a successful day. We are here to promote the affordability of food and the farmer’s role in producing that and I think we were able to accomplish both those today.”
295 paid the 50-cents to enjoy a breakfast. The cost represents what the farmer would get out of the cost of a six-dollar breakfast sold at a restaurant. This was the 14th year for the event.
