Annies Get Gem From Branon In Win, Orphans Drop Opener To Benton

Reagan Branon tossed a 1 hitter and faced the minimum as the Annies knocked off Okawville 1-0.  Branon struck out 16.  Centralia scored their lone run in the opening inning.  Bunt singles by Jazmyne Myers and Tess Timmons, and a single to left by Linsey McMillan loaded the bases with Taylor Henson’s infield hit driving in the game’s only run.

Branon, who walked three, had a no hitter going until Kate Lohman’s two out single in the sixth.  Myers, Timmons and Branon had 2 hits each for Centralia.

Centralia opened up their high school baseball season with a 3-0 loss to Benton.  Centralia’s lone hit was a one-out single to center by Markus Isaiah in the 3rd inning against Benton starter TJ Cocke.

It was the first time Centralia had been outside all year and saw live pitching according to head coach Todd Bauer.  Orphans starter Kaid Walker went 5 innings, allowing four hits with five strikeouts and a walk.  One of the Rangers’ runs was earned and Will Pryor threw a scoreless sixth.
