The KC Blue Devils will open up the 2019 NJCAA D1 Men’s National Basketball Tournament on Monday night at 6:30 against Sheridan, Wyoming out of District 9. Here is some background information on Sheridan.
Sheridan is coming off a disappointing loss in their District (lX) championship game to a most talented Casper, Wyo. (87-74), but were able to secure one of eight at-large bids…It is making its first Tournament appearance since 2006…Sheridan wins thanks in large part to experience – it has10 sophomores, including two All-Region performers in Camron Reece (6-7 sophomore power forward) and AJ Bramah (6-7 sophomore small foward).
The Generals won 11 games in a row to open the season…Sheridan has averaged 95 points per game while shooting 51.2 percent, but even more impressive is the assists they dish out, averaging 17.8…Coach Matt Hammer is in his fifth season at the helm. Says he: “One of our biggest strengths this year has been our depth at all five spots. During our conference season we had six players average between 10-and-14 points. Our guys do a great job of sharing the basketball and looking for each other.”
