Two new Salem Police Officers sworn in before leaving for training

Two new Salem Police officers were sworn in before leaving for the 14-week police academy in Champaign on Sunday.

Mayor Rex Barbee gave the oath to Ian King of rural Alma and Matthew Potter of Edgewood.

Police Chief Sean Reynolds says the two are expected to graduate on August 22nd when they will begin field training. The two were hired to allow two other officers to become School Resource Officers.
