James T. ‘Jim’ Wright, age 77, of Salem, IL died June 11, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, IL with his family at his side. Following graduation from Salem Community High School (1959), Jim worked as a machinist for Sealed Air Corporation, formerly located in Salem. He also ran the Salem Teen Center. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. A veteran, Jim served in the U. S. Army and Honorably Discharged, June 30, 1965.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem with Pastor Lori Harvey officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Salem American Legion Post #128. Burial will be private in Paradise Cemetery. The family will gather to meet friends from 9:00 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church and will be received by the Rankin Funeral Home, entrusted with the family’s care.
Surviving are his siblings, John H. (Marilyn) Wright of Salem, William E. (Mary) Wright of Summerset, KY, and Judith Bartley of Salem. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Greg (Anna) Wright, Mindy (Gary Teel) Wright, Steve Wright, Jeff Bartley, Jim Bartley, Charles Bartley, Tony Harmon, Mark Gruman, Cathy Gruman, Janet Gruman, Phil Wright, Walter Wright, and Tammy Gayle Wright, along with several great nieces and nephews.
Born August 20, 1941, in Centralia, he was the son of William and Pearl (Thomas) Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert M. Wright, sister Joyce Gruman, and nephews David Wright, Marty Bartley, and Charlie Wright.
