Charles Richard Hale, 68, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at 10:45 A.M. Thursday, July 18, 2019. Charlie graduated from Fairfield Community High School in 1969. He later retired from Continental Tire after 30 years of service. Charlie had a love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Jimmy Buffet fan. Charlie loved life, family and his many friends. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00P.M. To 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 19, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. In addition to his wife, Sharon Hale, Charlie is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Cartwright of Poseyville, Indiana, and Christina Harlow and husband, Jason of Evansville, Indiana; two grandchildren, Sydney Harlow of Evansville, Indiana, and Jackson Harlow of Evansville, Indiana; one brother; James Hale and wife, Sheila of Mount Vernon, Illinois; mother-in-law, Betty Harris of West Frankfort, Illinois; brother-in-law, Bruce Dorris and wife, Barbara of Bethalto, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Jo Donna Saunders and husband, Chuck of Thompsonville, Illinois, Judy Hale of Oregon, and Marilyn Harris of Thompsonville, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was born February 15, 1951 in Gallatin County, Illinois to the late Johnny and Zelma (Melton) Hale. He married Sharon (Dorris) Hale on September 3, 1983 in West Frankfort, Illinois. Charles and Sharon were parents to their son, John Robert Hale for 11 wonderful years. They were blessed with 36 years of marriage. In addition to his parents, and son, John Robert Hale, Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, John O. Hale; one sister, Fran Stinson; two brothers-in-law, Andy Stinson, and Bruce Harris; father-in-law, James Harris; and niece, Ashley Dudley.
