James “Leroy” Maxey, age 84, of Salem died July 18th at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem. He was born October 6, 1934 in Tonti Township to Hershel and Hazel (Gaston) Maxey who both preceded him in death. He was employed by Radiac and of the Christian Faith.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 23rd at 10am at the Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem with Mark Copley officiating. Burial in the Alma Cemetery. A visitation Monday from 5-7pm at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and left at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home.
He is survived by children Melinda Thompson of Salem; Janet Hays and Hhusband John of Salem; John Maxey and wife Betty of Mt Vernon; James Maxey and wife Lisa of Centralia. Granchildren: Marie Pollard and special friend Steve Wilkins, Sean Maxey, Amber Aaron and husband Nathan, and Kaitlyn Maxey. Great Grandchildren Kameron and Keaton Wilkins and Bentley Aaron.
He was also preceded in death by three wives including Carolyn Maxey who was the mother of his children, a infant son: Terry Lee Maxey, a brother: Harry Maxey, and a grandson: Johnathon Hays.
