The USDA is lowering the crop production forecast for Illinois.
Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says based on conditions as of September first, the Illinois corn yield is 180 bushels per acre.
“That is down 30 of last year’s record high of 210 and down 1 bushel from the August forecast. If the yield of 180 per acre is realized, the total production of corn in Illinois will be 1.88 billion bushels that is down 17% from last year.”
The soybean yield is forecasted to hit 53 bushels per acres, down 12 from last year. Total production is estimated at 527 million bushels. That would be a 25% decrease from last year.
