Eagles Soar Past Wildcats….Prep Football Scores

6th ranked Columbia looked to be a little under-rated as they dominated from start to finish in their 42-0 win over Salem.  The Eagles scored on their first 3 possessions and took a 21-0 lead after one quarter and extended it to 35-0 at the halftime break.  After forcing a Salem punt to open the 2nd half, Columbia scored in the first 2 minutes of the half to send the running clock into effect.  Quarterback Nic Horner was great finishing 11 of 17 for 273 yards and 2 touchdowns to go along with a 20 yard rushing touchdown.  His favorite target was London Little who finished with 4 catches for 127 yards including a 71 yard touchdown reception, he had 1 rush for a 22 yard touchdown and also picked off a Salem pass.  The Cats were outgained 503-129.  For Salem, Cole Graham led them on the ground with 30 yards as Salem rushed for under 70 in the game.  Salem is 1-2, 1-1 in the league and returns back home next week hosting Red Bud.  Columbia improves to 3-0 and 1-0 in the Cahokia.

In other conference action, The Roots Rivalry plaque will reside with the Breese Central Cougars for the next year after they defeated Freeburg 14-11 for their first victory of the season.  Wesclin dropped their non-conference game to Nashville 47-6.  Carlyle scored their first points of the season but fell to 0-3 with their 35-10 loss to Red Bud.
