Franklin Park was the site for nearly 30 junior high cross country teams as the annual Lee Evans Invitational was held.
The Varsity Girls event was won by Salem with 60 points followed by Olney with 82 and Triad with 109. Leading the way for Salem was Ivy Donoho who finished 4th in a time of 12:07. She was followed by Aila Laird 6, Breanna Thurman 7, Jordan Kessler 18 and Hannah Richardson 25.
The Varsity Boys event went to Triad who put 4 in the top 6 and finished with 29 points. Salem was 2nd with 64 and Collinsville a distant 3rd with 120 points. Salem was led by Branson Pappas who finished in a time of 10:33 good for 3rd overall followed closely by Sean Thornton who was 13 in 11:11, Caidien Beer 14, Eli Baker 17 and Caleb Purintun 18.
Salem’s Ricardo Salgado scorched the open race in a time of 7:17 to take the win.
The Salem JV girls won their race with 64 points followed by Triad with 85 and then Olney with 92. Addison Bullard was the first Salem finisher in 8:44 for 6th place followed by Caitlynne Bryan 10, Brianna Redenbo 14, Hannah Smith 15 and Ella Robinson 19.
The JV boys put 3 in the top 6 and finished 3rd overall. Triad was first with 54 points followed by Field/Farrington with 59 and then Salem’s 89. Robbie Shober was 2nd overall in a time of 7:42 for Salem followed closely by 3rd place Payton Gullion in 7:43 and Avery Gullion was 6th in 7:52. Alex Spencer finished 48 and Brayden Harris 40.
Salem returns to action Saturday morning running at the Summersville Invitational in Mt Vernon.
