Two occupants of an SUV were injured when it collided with a semi attempting to back onto a roadway Wednesday night.
State Police say the crash occurred on U.S. 50 at Ironwood Road a mile east of Xenia in Clay County.
Preliminary information indicates the semi driven by 28-year-old Brendan Swope of Midlothian, Virginia was in the process of backing off U.S. 50 onto Ironwood Road when a westbound SUV driven by 65-year-old Shari Pottorff of Collinsville hit the driver’s side area of the truck cab.
Both Pottorff and a passenger in her SUV, 61-year-old Sheila Lambrich of Woodlawn, were injured. They were initially taken to Clay County Hospital and later transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
The truck driver was ticketed for improper back of a vehicle on the roadway, improper lane usage, and failure to maintain an hours of service log.
Pottorff was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
The crash occurred at 8:04 Wednesday night.
