Two thrown through windshield of vehicle in crash north of Mt. Vernon

Both the driver and front-seat passenger of a pickup truck were ejected through the windshield during a one-vehicle crash north of Mt. Vernon early Sunday night.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies say a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Daniel Morgan of Beal Road in Mt. Vernon was traveling on Miller Road north of Beal Road when it drifted off the shoulder, lost control, rotated back across the road to the east shoulder.   After leaving the road, it struck two trees.

Daniel Morgan along with front-seat passenger, 40-year-old Sarah Morgan of Beal Road, were ejected after the pickup hit the second tree on the front right side.

Daniel Morgan was initially taken to SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital and was transferred to a St. Louis Hospital.   Sarah Morgan was taken to Crossroads Community Hospital and then transferred to a St. Louis Hospital.

Two children, ten and 12-year-old boys, in the back seat were in child restraint seats and were not injured.

The crash occurred at 6:39 Sunday night.   Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by the Jefferson County Fire Protection District.
