Centralia City Firemen called in all available firemen when receiving an alarm Monday afternoon that there was a working fire in the dining room of Fireside House nursing home at 10-30 Martin Luther King Drive.

However, the situation fortunately turned out to be different on their arrival. The fire was in an outlet in a patient room that had been extinguished with a fire detector by an employee before the department arrived. Firemen helped remove smoke from the impacted room.

The nursing home had been evacuated without incident after the fire alarm sounded. Several ambulances stood by in the event residences needed to be transported to a different facility, but that did not become necessary.
