The Salem Grade School Board has a new member, but she's no stranger to the district.

Retired teacher Lynette Dye was selected by the school board in a special meeting to replace Michelle Barbee who had to resign when moving out of the district.

Superintendent Dr. Leslie Foppe says Dye was one of five that had expressed an interest in the position. Four of the five were interviewed, with the fifth not being available due to illness.

Dye retired as a Salem Grade School Teacher at the end of the 2014-15 school year. She will serve until the November 2018 school board election.
