A 26-year-old Centralia man has entered an open plea in Marion County Court Monday to a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a girl under the age of 13.

Johnathon Stinde of Douglas Street was arrested in April following an investigation by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services into an alleged abuse complaint that originated from the Central City School.

The offense is a Class II felony punishable by a probationary term or three to seven years in prison. A December 13th hearing is set to discuss a sentencing date. A sex offender evaluation was ordered. By agreement, bond was modified to a $100,000 personal recognizance bond with electronic home confinement. He will not be allowed to have contact with anyone under the age of 18, except his brother. Stinde had been held in the Marion County Jail since his arrest on $100,000 bond.

As part of the plea agreement, two Class X charges of predatory criminal sexual assault to a girl under 13 were dropped.

The case had been set to go to trial beginning today.
