Two people have received lengthy prison sentences Wednesday from Clinton County Resident Circuit Judge Stanley Brandmeyer after entering guilty pleas for alleged sex acts against children.

A 35-year-old St. Louis man, formerly from Keyesport, received a 28-year prison term after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Tyrus Jones was handed a 14-year prison term on each count, with the sentences to be served consecutively. Four other counts, including two for predatory criminal sexual assault and two for criminal sexual assault, were dropped as part of the plea. Jones was accused of committing the act against three victims, with the guilty pleas involving two of the children.

A 43-year-old Belleville man, formerly of New Baden, pleaded guilty to a single count of predatory criminal sexual assault to a child. Maggy Gibson received a 12-year prison term. A second county of predatory criminal sexual assault was dropped as part of the plea. The Clinton County State's Attorney's office indicates both of the charges against Gibson were for actions against the same victim.
