Three Proposals, Including New Business, Seek TIF Grant Money From Salem City Council

There are three proposals for $45,000 in tax increment financing district funding the city plans to award as soon as its next meeting.

One of the proposals is for a new business. BNC Bicycle and Fitness is a proposal to acquire the building at 100 North Washington to open a bicycle shop. The total cost of the project is $167,000. The TIF money would assist in filling a gap with financing for the down payment. Brad Dickniete, who is proposing the shop, currently owns a similar facility in Mt. Vernon.

Jeannell Charman of Salem Travel is seeking $23,560 to complete the window replacement project on the east side of her building at 111 North Broadway.

The Salem Elks Lodge is seeking $15,000 toward a total $36,000 project to put a new roof on the building. The roof has develop severe leaks.

The council could make their decision on funding at the next meeting. They appeared to be leaning towards awarding $15,000 to each of the three projects.
