Here’s how Marion County voted in the 2022 statewide primary elections

With all thirty-seven precincts reporting, the results are in for this year’s general primary election in Marion County. The results for competitive statewide races are as follows.

For the Republican U.S. Senate nomination, Marion County chose Peggy Hubbard with 2,010 votes, good for 31% of the vote. Every other candidate in that race received less than 10% of the vote. Kathy Salvy received 590 votes, Matt Dubiel received 587, Anthony Williams received 557, and Casey Chlebek received 532.

In the Republican Governor Race, Darren Bailey took the vast majority of Marion County votes, with his 4,546 giving him 70% of the total vote and dwarfing the rest of the field.

Thomas DeVore was Republican State Attorney General pick for Marion County with 3,512 votes, 54% of the total. Steve Kim received 1,236 votes, 19% of the total, and David Shestokas received 489 votes.

For Republican Secretary of State, Marion County chose Dan Brady with 3,843 votes, giving him 59% of the vote. Opponent John Milhiser received 1,266 votes, 19% of the vote.

In the Democratic governor race, Marion County voters favored incumbent J.B. Pritzker, giving him 564 votes against Beverly Miles’ 221.

For Illinois Secretary of State, Marion County Democrats narrowly chose Alexi Giannoulias with 335 votes. Anna Valencia was the runner-up, getting 194 votes.

For representative of the 12th Congressional District, Marion County Democrats picked Joshua Qualls with 478 votes. Opponent Chip Markel received 292 votes.
