The Salem Lion's Club will continue an 88-year tradition on Sunday when it holds an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids in Bryan Memorial Park. The Centralia Recycle Center will be closed on Saturday, March 30th, for the Easter weekend. The public drive-through will resume on Tuesday, April 2 from 12:30-4 pm. The Centralia Recycle Center is still in need of volunteers to assist during the public drive-through periods on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30-4 and Saturdays from 9-12. The City of Salem will be temporarily switching to free chlorine in its drinking water system beginning on April 15th and continuing further notice. Free chlorination is a regularly scheduled preventative maintenance procedure for water systems using combined chlorination (chloramines) for disinfection. Marion County Resident Circuit Court Judge Mark Stedelin has made a proposal to the county board on a complete renovation of the large third story courtroom. Stedelin wants to enlarge the jury box to include room for the two alternates and to make it less cramped.
