The driver of a semi lost control of his southbound rig on I-57 in the southbound lanes north of Salem when a tire blew Tuesday night. Salem Fire Protection District Chief Dave Duncan says the driver crossed the median on the east side of the highway, went up an embankment and overturned. Isidro Figuerua, who drives for AC Carriers of El Dorado, Texas, was able to get out of the truck on his own uninjured.
Duncan says the fire department handled a small fuel leak. The load of air conditioner parts did not spill.
One lane of the interstate was closed at the 120-mile marker for about four hours to get the truck completely off the roadway.
