Michael Lee Thompson, 66 of Louisiana, formerly of Centralia passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis. Michael was a proud alumni of Centralia High School and he graduated from the Missouri Military Academy. Mr. Thompson served his country with honor in the United States Airforce as a sergeant. He worked on off-shore oil rigs all over the world. Michael was a lifetime member of the Centralia VFW Post 2055. He lived in Houma Louisiana for 45 years until failing health.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval, with Chaplain Joannie Naraghi officiating. Memorials may be made in Michael’s Honor to Shriners Hospital. Survivors include his mother, LaDonne Thompson of Centralia; brother, Kevin Thompson and wife Jean of Centralia; uncle, Paul Ferguson of Centralia, son, Lee Allen Thompson and wife Kim of Northport, AL; grandchildren, Ryan Lee Thompson, Katie Lett, and Meri Davis Lett all of AL; and several cousins.
He was born on December 13, 1951 the son of Bill Lee and LaDonne (Ferguson) Thompson in Champaign, IL. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his father Bill Thompson; grandparents, John Allen and Maude Ferguson, and Sterling and Lena Thompson; uncles, Donald Ferguson and wife Joann, Jim Thompson and wife LaDonne, Jack Thompson and wife Lola, and Richard Thompson and wife Bernie; and aunt, Pauline Ferguson.
