Salem 5th Grade 2nd At Flora Tournament, 21-9 On the Season

The Salem 5th grade Bobcats finished 2nd at the Flora Tournament over the weekend.  Salem opened with a 27-25 comeback win over Cumberland in a game where Salem trailed by 11 points at halftime.  Landon Maxey finished with 12 for Salem, Payton Gullion added 5 and Trey Clark returned from a broken arm to finish with 4.

Salem then advanced to the championship with a 46-34 win over Nashville in a game that was just 21-18 Salem at the half.  Maxey finished with 15, Clark 8, Jaret Gibson 6 in a balanced attack as Salem went 8-of-10 from the foul line.

The Cats then fell in the title game to a good Mattoon team 30-25.  Payton Gullion had 9 to lead Salem, Maxey finished with 8.  Salem is 21-9 on the season and will host Altamont Lutheran Saturday morning at 10 am ahead of the 6th grade game at 11.
