The 69th Salem Invitational is in the books and East St Louis repeated as champs with their 61-42 win over Effingham. Salem won their consolation semifinal over Highland 64-24 to get to the trophy game against Mt Vernon who beat TF North 71-64. The Rams defeated Salem in the consolation title game 50-47. TF North beat Highland in the 7th place game 60-43 and the Carbondale Terriers beat Teutopolis in the 3rd place game 65-45.
At the Quincy Tournament, Centralia fell to Quincy 62-57.
South Central fell to Dieterich 54-45 over the weekend. Kennin Willshire led SC with 16, Chase Dodson and Hunter Brandt added 9 each. SC won the Fresh/Soph game and lost the JV game. The Cougars are 11-8 overall and 4-2 in the NTC as they will play Dieterich again on Wednesday to open the NTC Tournament.
Woodlawn won the Midland Trail Tournament over Wayne City 55-53, Odin over Waltonville for 3rd place 56-34 and Cisne won the consolation title over Christ Our Rock 54-39.
The Little Illini Conference Tournament saw top seed Marshall nip Flora 44-42 to get to tomorrow’s semifinals. Casey beat Lawrenceville 46-33, Olney over Paris 52-37 and Robinson beat Newton 55-52.
Pinckneyville won the Benton Invitational finishing 5-0 with a 64-60 win over Benton who finished 4-1 and in 2nd place. Sesser Valier was 3-2 and 3rd with Hamilton County 4th at 2-3, Vandalia was 5th at 1-4 and Mounds Meridian finished 0-5.
At Carmi White County, Fairfield took the title at 5-0 with Harrisburg 2nd, Mt Carmel 3rd, Carmi 4th, Mt Vernon, Indiana was 4th and finishing 5th at 0-5 was Edwards County.
Nashville won the NIT with a win over Mater Dei in the title game 41-39. Mascoutah over Breese Central for 3rd 56-49 and Metro East Lutheran over Brentwood, Missouri in the 5th place game 63-49.
Alton Marquette beat Wesclin in the title game at Okawville 63-36, Okawville 58-56 over Roxana for 3rd and Carlyle beat Gibault 57-40 in the 5th place game.
At the Sparta Mid Winter Classic, Murphysboro over Freeburg in the title game 54-47, Sparta beat Waterloo 76-65 in the 3rd place game, Columbia over Trico in the 5th place game 51-36 and in the 7th place game it was Red Bud over Steeleville 56-55.
