Two people have been arrested following a vehicle chase in Jefferson County that ended in a crash and foot chase.
The driver, 32-year-old Ryan Keen of Mt. Vernon, and passenger, 30-year-old Jamie Roberts of Mt. Vernon, were both apprehended. Keen is being held for possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude police and various other traffic charges. Roberts was arrested on two Jefferson County warrants for retail theft and failure to appear on a petition to revoke probation in an unlawful delivery of Methamphetamine case.
Roberts is being held in lieu of $35,000 bond, while bond for Keen will be set by a judge.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies say the chase began when they attempted to stop a 2009 Dodge Journey that was reported stolen on Sunday evening at Herbert and Welkins in Mt. Vernon. The chase left the south3east side of Mt. Vernon and continued on country roads to Bluford. The vehicle lost control at Bluford Road and Illinois Route 15 causing it to slide off an embankment into a yard. The two then ran on foot before being apprehended.
Mt. Vernon and Ina police joined the sheriff’s office in the effort to stop the vehicle.
