Fire heavily damages Sandoval home 

Fire has heavily damaged a Sandoval home.

Sandoval Fire Chief Chad Parson says heavy fire was showing from the rear of the single story wood frame home  at 305 South Main with flames shooting from the windows upon their arrival.

The Ronald Melton family was able to get out of the home safely.  There were no injuries.

Parson says they first knocked down the exterior fire and then moved inside.  The home sustained heavy fire damage to a rear bedroom and back porch area with smoke and water damage to the rest of the structure.

Odin, Centralia Fire Protection District, and Centralia City Firemen provided mutual aid assistance.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.  The State Fire Marshal office has been called into investigate.

The Red Cross was notified to assist the family.

The interior crews were able to rescue a small kitten from the kitchen area.

Firemen were on the scene for about three hours beginning at five Tuesday morning.
