The Illinois Department of Public Health has announced 330 new cases of coronavirus disease and three additional deaths. That brings the total number of cases to 1,865 and deaths to 19 deaths.
Marion, Fayette, Jefferson, Clay, Wayne and Effingham County still have not had a confirmed case. There has been one additional confirmed case in Clinton County, bringing their total to four. Washington County has one confirmed case.
Marion County Health Department Director of Nursing Shelly Yoder says 28 have now been tested in Marion County, with 25 testing negative and three tests pending. The health department notes even without a confirmed case, the coronavirus is most likely in the area and recommended precautions need to be followed.
The positive cases Wednesday include a man incarcerated at Stateville Correctional Center as well as a contractual worker at Sheridan Correctional Center. Two Stateville correctional officers are recovering at home and the individual who is incarcerated is isolated and recovering in the hospital. Those who have been identified as being potentially exposed are being quarantined and the facility is on a 14-day lockdown.
After consulting with IDPH, the Department of Corrections determined staff and men incarcerated at the Sheridan facility were at low to medium risk for potential exposure. The facility also was placed on a 14-day lockdown.
Three new counties also reported cases for the first time. They are Douglas, Marshall and Morgan Counties.
The three new deaths were a Kane County man in his 90’s, a Cook County man in his 60’s and a Will County woman in her 50’s.
