Governor JB Pritzker says coronavirus testing is expanding in Illinois.
The Governor says right now, about four thousand tests are being run each day. He says within the next week and a half, they should be up to 10,000 per day.
“That marker 10,000 is significant because that is the number of tests per day that the scientists and experts tell us that we need to get a truly holistic understanding of the virus in each of our 102 counties.”
Governor Pritzker says he is very disappointed the federal government hasn’t sent more tests. He reports the state is working with public and private partners to increase testing capabilities.
So far, nearly 28,000 people in Illinois have been tested for COVID-19.
