Illinois Department of Public Health announces 2,508 new cases of Coronavirus Disease     

The Illinois Department of Public Health on Sunday announced another 2,508 new cases of Coronavirus Disease including 67 additional deaths.

Only two of the new deaths were recorded in Southern Illinois, one apiece in St. Clair and Madison County.  The majority of the deaths were in Cook County, where an additional 59 deaths were recorded.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 110,304 cases, including 4,856 deaths.   Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 25,674 specimens for a total of 747,921.  The statewide 7-day rolling positivity rate, May 15th – May 21st is 12%.   That’s well under the 20-percent required to move to Phase Three recovery.
