No serious injuries reported in two-vehicle crash on Salem’s west side

Seven people were checked out but none required hospital treatment following a two-vehicle crash at West Main and the northbound entrance ramp to I-57 late Sunday afternoon.

Salem Police say it appears a 16-year-old Odin juvenile who was traveling westbound on West Main ran the stoplight at the I-57 exit and hit an SUV making a left turn onto Main Street in the side.  The vehicle struck was driven by Devin Jackson of Arkansas.

Both drivers, three passengers in the juveniles car, and two in Jackson’s SUV were all checked by United Medical Response.   Police say 24-year-old Andrew Boswell of Arkansas reportedly sustained a minor nose injury but declined hospital treatment.

The juvenile was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device and violating his graduated driver’s license for having too many passengers.

The crash occurred at 4:30 Sunday afternoon.
