The Illinois Department of Public Health has released data on the number of COVID-19 positives and deaths at long-term care facilities around the state, including South Central Illinois. The numbers include a combination of staff and residents at each facility that tested positive.
The data shows the Warren Murray Developmental Center with 61 total cases and no deaths. Carlyle Health Care has 85 cases and 16 deaths. Greentree Assisted Living Facility in Mt. Vernon has had a total of 73 positives and 16 deaths.
Two other facilities have had a single death. Clinton Manor Living Facility in New Baden has had 29 positive cases and one death. Aperion Care in Fairfield has recorded six cases and one death.
Other facilities listed with outbreaks are Villa Catherine in Carlyle, with seven positive cases, and Cisne Rehabilitation and Health Care with two positive cases.
Statewide, coronavirus has been confirmed in at least 603 facilities in 45 counties. As of Friday, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 55-percent of all COVID-19 deaths have occurred in long term care facilities. That translates into 3,772 deaths. A total of 22,170 residents and staff have been diagnosed with the virus through Friday.
On the positive side, the long-term care facilities have been showing a decline in residents and employees dying from COVID-19.
