The Illinois Department of Public Health has reported 724 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease and 23 additional deaths. The only death reported on Tuesday in Southern Illinois was a male in his 80s in St. Clair County in the Metro-East. 11 of the deaths were in Cook County and five others in the collar counties around Chicago.
The only area county reporting a new case on Tuesday was Wayne County, where a female child became the 14th case. Three of the positives remain in isolation.
Laboratories processed 31,069 samples in the 24 hour period leading up to the Tuesday report, for a positivity rate from June 23rd to June 29th of 2.6-percent.
