There’s been only one new COVID -19 case reported by South Central Illinois Health Departments.
The Washington County Health Department is reporting a male in his 40s who recently returned from Florida has tested positive. He is isolated at home with mild to moderate symptoms. The health department warns as cases increase across the country, be cautious if planning travel.
Washington County now has 21 confirmed cases. Only two are active.
Marion County is currently at 70 positive cases after three new cases reported on Friday. As of Friday, 62 of those had recovered.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has announced 862 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease on Saturday and ten additional deaths. That brings the total number of cases to 146,612 and the number of deaths to 7,014.
Health Department officials report five of the deaths were in Cook County and four of the others in the collar counties around Chicago.
Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 33,836 specimens for a total of 1,734,471. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from June 27 –July 3 is 2.6%.
