Centralia man arrested for April 22nd robbery of man walking down North Poplar

Bond has been set at $10,000 for a 42-year-old Centralia man who has been charged with robbery of another man on a Centralia street.

Charles Anderson of South Maple is accused of approaching another person walking down the 800 block of North Poplar Street on April 22nd.  After the man replied that he didn’t have any money, Anderson allegedly struck him in the back of the head with an unknown object and stole $350 from the victim’s wallet.

Administrative Sergeant Steve Whritenour says during an investigation that followed by the department’s administrative division, a photo lineup was presented to the victim who identified Anderson as the man who allegedly stole his money.

Anderson was taken into custody when located walking by Centralia Police in Fairview Shopping Center on Thursday.

Police say the victim was checked on the scene by EMS but did not require hospital treatment.

Anderson had the public defender appointed to represent him at his first court appearance on Friday.  If released on bond, he was ordered to have no contact with the victim.  The preliminary hearing in the case is set for August 4th.
