The Clay County Health Department is investigating three positive COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday. A female in her 30s and two children under ten were in contact with a COVID-19 positive case before being tested. All are reported to be doing well and are in isolation at home.
The Fayette County Health Department is reporting one new positive case, a female in her 50s who is isolated at home. This the 24th positive case in the county. No one else remains in isolation.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has announced for the third day in a row the number of confirmed new COVID-19 cases has topped the 1,000 mark. There were 1,195 new confirmed cases on Saturday, in addition to 24 more deaths. None of the deaths are in Southern Illinois. 18 deaths were reported in Cook County and five more in the collar counties around Chicago.
There were another 32,345 test results received in the 24 hours before the release. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate for tests taken from July 4th to 10th is up to three percent.
As of Friday night, 1,398 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 321 patients were in the ICU and 139 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
