Rural Odin man arrested for firing shots into church building

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest in connection with shots fired at the Bethel Baptist Church on Bethel Road in rural Odin.

53-year-old Joseph Busscher who lives next to the church is being held in the Marion County Jail for reckless discharge of a firearm and felony criminal damage to property.

Sheriff’s Deputies say one window was broken out and several gunshots were found into the side of the church building earlier this week.

Busscher was taken into custody after agreeing to meet with the sheriff’s department on Friday morning.   They had developed evidence that he was responsible for the damage.
