A 2018 Balloon Fest flight that took the balloonists over downtown Centralia.
Centralia Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marcus Holland has finalized plans for the Balloon Glows that will be part of this year’s Balloon Fest.
Without being able to have crowds, there will be four separate Balloon Glows spaced around the community that you’ll be able to see by driving by. The glows will be at Fairview Park in Centralia, Centralia High School, Central City Lions Park, and Wamac City Park.
The Balloon Glows will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 on Friday evening, August 21st, and Saturday, August 22nd.
There will also be a change in the balloon flights. They will no longer begin in Foundation Park, but from a location that will fly them over Centralia. Holland says the flights will also be longer, up to 45 minutes, to give longer viewing time.
The schedule of flights has also been modified. Thee will now be evening flights at six pm on Friday and Saturday night, August 21st and 22nd, and at six am on Saturday and Sunday, August 22nd and 23rd. The Saturday night flight has been added and the Sunday night optional flight has been eliminated.
Holland says this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy outside dining or your own backyard and watch 25 hot air balloons fly across the sky.
Holland is still hopeful the event can bring thousands of people into the community who will spend money locally to help businesses that have been adversely affected by COVID-19.
A more detailed schedule of events will be announced in the coming weeks.
