The Illinois Department of Public Health has reported an additional 1,639 new cases of coronavirus disease on Saturday. They have also reported eight new deaths, including a male in his 70s from St. Clair County in the Metro-East. The rest of the deaths were in the Chicago area.
Within the past 24 hours leading up to Saturday’s report, laboratories have reported 39,809 test results. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of the total test from July 25 –July 31 is 3.9%.
As of last night, 1,347 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 334 patients were in the ICU and 148 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
In South Central Illinois, both Fayette and Wayne Counties are reporting one new case apiece on Saturday. Wayne County reports their case is in a female in her 30s who is isolating at home.
