Illinois Public Health Officials announced 1,467 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease on Sunday. There were also 14 additional confirmed deaths, including a female in her 90s from Montgomery County.
Both the Fayette County and Wayne County Health Departments reported one more positive COVID-19 case on Sunday. The Fayette County case is a male in his 20s and the Wayne County case is a female child.
Another 38,948 test results were received, with the preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate for July 26th to August 1st at 3.9 percent.
In the region breakdown, the positivity rate in the Metro-East Region that includes Washington, Clinton, and Bond Counties was at 7.7-percent as of Thursday. The Southern Region that includes Marion and Jefferson Counties has increased to 6.8-percent. The East-Central Illinois region is at 3.2-percent. Three consecutively days of eight-percent could lead to a rollback of some of the restrictions that came with Phase Four.
The Metro-East region has seen one day of hospital admission rate increase and the Southern and East-Central regional two days.
