Jefferson County records another COVID-19 death; Fayette County has long term care facility outbreak

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting the county’s 32nd death related to COVID-19.   The victim is a male in his 50s.   The Jefferson County Health Department is also reporting 11 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend in those ranging in age from their 30s to their 70s.  There are currently 43 active cases.

Fayette County is reporting 42 confirmed new cases over the weekend, including 24 linked to a congregate living facility.   The new cases range in age from under 10 to 100 years of age.  Fayette County now has 120 active cases.

Clinton County reported 50 new cases over the weekend and on Monday.  253 are currently on home isolation and seven are hospitalized.

Washington County is reporting 10 new cases ranging in age from 16 to a person in their 80s.  The county now has 25 active cases and ten hospitalized, two who are considered active COVID-19 cases.

Statewide, 1,477 new cases are being reported on Monday along with seven additional confirmed deaths.  Five of the deaths were in Cook County and the other two in Central Illinois.

The new seven day statewide positivity rate remains at 3.5-percent with an additional 38,234 test results being received in the 24 hours leading up to the Monday report.

The positivity rate for the Metro-East Region that includes Clinton, Washington, and Bond Counties has fallen another two-tenths of a percent to 7.3-percent.  The Southern Illinois Region that includes Marion, Jefferson, and Wayne County fell to 6.7-percent.   The East Central Illinois Region increased a tenth of a percent to 2.8-percent.
