Two people are in custody following the execution of search warrants on two homes in Centralia on Thursday.
Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says Drug Task Force agents as well as officers from the Centralia Police Department executed a traffic stop on a suspect that was followed by the FBI SWAT Team executing search warrants on homes in the 300 block of South Pine Street and Golf Lane.
One was picked up on an arrest warrant. The other was taken into custody based on information gathered during the search warrant.
Their names have not yet been released pending arraignment in the one case and a decision on any charges in the other.
The operation was the result of an ongoing investigation conducted by the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, and local Law Enforcement officers assigned to the Federal Drug Task Force.
Agents from the Springfield and Fairview Heights FBI offices, officers form the Carlyle Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Salem Police Department, and Centralia Police Department were involved. Dodson notes these types of operations are an example of local law enforcement working in partnership with Federal agencies to combat the drug problems in the area.
This story has been updated to reflect one of the two had a pending arrest warrant. The other was taken into custody based on evidence allegedly found in the search warrant.
