The Marion County Relay for Life-Centralia had to cancel this year’s relay due to COVID-19, but found a way to hold the Luminaria Ceremony over the weekend.
It was a drive through event in Fairview Park where the luminaria lined both sides of the park road.
Chair Christie Krieg says they wanted to find a way to still remember those who have lost their loved ones to cancer and celebrate those who survived.
“So far this year we have raised almost $22,000 as of tonight, we are looking to still take more donations to help raise and fight that cause and hoping we can meet even half our goal. And our goal was $60,000 so we would really appreciate anymore support.”
You can make donations on line through the Marion County-Centralia Relay for Life website. A total of 358 luminaria were displayed that were purchased in Memory of those who lost their lives to cancer.
