Helen M. Centers Odem, age 97, of Flora formerly of Kinmundy, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Heritage Woods in Flora.
Helen worked as an LPN for 74 years. She had a strong, but personal Christian faith.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Parker Cemetery in Kinmundy. Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
Helen was born on January 5, 1923 in Saline County, Cottage Grove, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Phoebe Johnson. She married Cecil Centers and he preceded her in death. She later married Hollis Odem on December 24, 1960 in Harvey, Illinois and he also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Center and wife Millie of Sacramento, CA and Gary Centers and wife Kay of Portage, IN; four step-children, Carolyn and Don Miller of MS, Bobby Odem and wife Jodie of MS, Billy Odem and Debbie of Xenia and Joseph of Kinmundy; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; granddaughter, Kelly Stec; step-daughter, Carla; two sisters, Blanche Milburn and Lucille Ferguson; one brother, Walter Johnson; step-brother, Bud Kelly and step-sister, Mary.
