KC XC Show Well At Topper Town Invite in Hillsboro

The men and women of the KC cross country teams traveled to Hillsboro for the Topper Town Invite.

The Blue Angels put together the best race of the year as a team,  placing second to  Nationally ranked Heartland College of Bloomington. KC put 3 runners in the top 15 of the race, led by Cheyenne Finley in time of 20:01 over the 5K distance, placing 7th. Summer Chelf was 11th in a time of 20:52 and Elyse Faust was 12th in 20:57. The 4th and 5th counters were Gracee Kelly in a time of 22:15 good for 17th and Mya Albers placed 19th in a time of 22:28. Macie Hargis was the 6th KC runner in a season best time of 23:15 and her teammate Abby Bloemer also had a season best time of 23:22.

The men of KC placed 3rd as a team and also put together their best race of the season. Noah Probst was 13th in a time of 27:41 over the 8K distance, followed by Alex Detmer in 17th in a time of 28:14. Ty Reynolds was 19th in a career best time of 28:37 and next in line was Matt Speidel in 25th with his career best time of 30:36. Braden Tate was 26th in his personal best time of 30:38. But the highlight of the race was Alex Huegen who covered the course in a career best time of 31:27, taking almost 3 minutes off his previous best. Andrew Stevenson, not to be left out, had his career best race in a time of 31:29.

It was a great day for the racers from Kaskaskia College with all the personal and season best times even with the windy conditions of 17 to 20 mph winds.
