Ivy Donoho Advances To XC Sectionals

The Salem Cross Country teams competed at the Highland 2a Sectional on Saturday.  Ivy  Donoho was 33rd in a time of 22:01 earning her a trip to Saturday’s sectional at Olney Central College.  Donoho was the 5th runner not on a qualifying team to earn her spot.  Overall as a team the Lady Cats were 10th.  Jaedyn Goostree, Hannah Richardson, Autumn Butts and Olivia Powless also scored for Salem.

The boys were also 10th as a team.  Alek Bandy led Salem in a time of 18:09 to finish 45th.  Freshman Branson Pappas ran his best race of the season placing 47th.  Senior Haddon Lybarger finished his high school career placing 48th.  Ricardo Salgado and Creed Phillips rounded out the top 5 for Salem.

At the 1a Freeburg Regional, the hosts and Wesclin advance to Sectionals this weekend.  Mater Dei was 3rd, Christ Our Rock 5th and Breese Central 10th.  Christ Our Rock was led by Zach McKowen who was 4th, Sam Britt 9th, Nickoly Bierbaum 30th, Ryan Wuebbels 39th and Landon Langenhorst was 69th.
