Marion County reports 20 new COVID-19 cases

The Marion County Health Department is reporting 20 new positive cases of the coronavirus disease on Tuesday.

Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says one of the cases is a long-term care resident and three are in school. The department is in the process of doing the contact tracing on the students.

Of the new cases, eight are considered community spread and 12 from household or close contacts. The cases range in age from a boy under nine months old to two boys under 12 to a female in her teens to a male in his 90s.

There are now 228 active cases, including 11 in the hospital. Of those in the hospital, three are on ventilators. Six more were released from isolation on Tuesday for a total of 769 who have recovered. Over 21,000 tests have now been given to Marion County residents with positive cases now topping the 1,000 mark at 1,016.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting eight new positive cases. 241 are currently on home isolation and 11 are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department has 16 new positive cases ranging in age from two under 13 to a male in his 80s. There are currently 80 active cases in isolation.

The Washington County Health Department is reporting 11 new cases in the past 24 hours ranging in age from a male under 5 to two males in their 70s. There are currently 35 active cases and no hospitalizations.

Fayette County has nine new confirmed cases. There are now 69 active cases.

Wayne County has five new cases ranging in age from a male teen to a female in her 80s. There are currently 97 active cases and one currently hospitalized.
